Presentation of Dermatoscope funded by The West Lancashire Mark Benevolent Fund

Late last year (2018) I had to undergo some surgery at the countess of Chester hospital which was performed by Miss Fleming a consultant in the Maxillofacial unit. She  works across the whole of the Merseyside and Cheshire health authority and at the Aintree hospital where she teaches the students.
After my visit we started to talk and I discovered that she was short of a piece of equipment which made the diagnosis of skin cancers and other skin related problems a great deal easier, it and saves a lot of sometimes intrusive and unnecessary operations. The piece of equipment which was required is a portable Dermatoscope which gives the ability to examine skin lesions at very high magnification.
I applied for funding for the item through the WLMBF and I am delighted to say that my application was successful and on Tuesday 14th May I visited the Hospital once again and at a prearranged time I presented Miss Fleming the  Portable Dermatoscope., who is in the photograph next to me on my right holding the small but vital item, together with some of the team members. It was explained to me that the equipment would prove to be invaluable and save many hours of unnecessary work, meaning that more people would be able to receive treatment, and less time spent on diagnosis.
